This closing statement reflects on the experiences and insights gained through the Europe-wide HouseEurope! campaign, in which Architects for Future took part as the national organising member in Germany. At the heart of the campaign was the call to prioritise renovation and adaptive reuse over demolition and new construction. At the same time, the statement shows that the campaign went far beyond political demands: it helped build new European networks, created spaces for exchange, and strengthened shared learning processes between civil society, professionals, educators, and activists. HouseEurope! demonstrates that a socio-ecological transformation of the building sector requires long-term collaboration, reliable structures, and collective action at the European level.

Dieses Abschlussstatement fasst die Erfahrungen und Erkenntnisse aus der europaweiten Kampagne HouseEurope! zusammen, an der Architects for Future als national organisierendes Mitglied in Deutschland beteiligt war. Im Zentrum der Kampagne stand die Forderung, Sanierung und Umnutzung stärker zu fördern als Abriss und Neubau. Gleichzeitig zeigt das Statement, dass die Kampagne weit über politische Forderungen hinausging: Sie hat neue europäische Netzwerke aufgebaut, Austausch ermöglicht und gemeinsame Lernprozesse zwischen Zivilgesellschaft, Fachleuten, Bildung und Aktivismus gestärkt. HouseEurope! macht deutlich, dass eine sozial-ökologische Transformation des Bausektors langfristige Zusammenarbeit, verlässliche Strukturen und gemeinsames Handeln auf europäischer Ebene braucht.
